New Rooftop Flat Delivered Above Occupied Block.
Access to site was very restricted, being in an existing residential area, and given that works were carried out at the top of the building, getting materials to the top floor was challenging, especially during winter. As the rest of the building was already occupied throughout the course of the build, we had to ensure that the site was weather tight throughout this time period.
Security was an additional consideration throughout the build.
Over the course of a five month project, we removed the roof of the existing block of apartments and created a new flat on the extra floor. This was a highly creative way of getting an additional home from the same overall footprint.
In the end, the result was a brand new 2 bedroom flat with an open plan kitchen diner, with minimal disruption to the existing residents, in fact, incoming power was upgraded to both the new and existing apartments during work.
